Backend Engineer – Azure Serverless & Automation

We are seeking a highly capable backend engineer with deep expertise in API development and integration, Azure serverless automation, and data engineering to build and deploy the compliance automation engine for a property management use case. This role will lead the technical integration with Cubby, the property management platform, designing and implementing APIs, ingesting tenant and lease data, and orchestrating downstream automation using Azure Functions.

The ideal candidate will also bring practical experience with AI/ML and OCR technologies within the Azure ecosystem to support the compliance validation workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, integrate, and manage RESTful APIs for secure, scalable exchange of data with Cubby’s property management platform

• Collaborate with Cubby’s technical team to align on data requirements, API endpoints, and integration patterns

• Build a robust Azure-based data lake to ingest, stage, and process tenant and lease data nightly

• Implement Azure Functions for compliance logic, automation workflows, and system-triggered actions (e.g., email notifications, auto-enrollment)

• Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform, including Function Apps, Storage Accounts, VNETs, and NSGs

• Design for performance, fault tolerance, and scalability using best practices in Azure serverless architecture

• Contribute to future enhancements leveraging Azure AI, Cognitive Services, Form Recognizer, or similar OCR tools for document parsing and compliance validation

Key Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in RESTful API development and integration

• Experience with Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Event Grid, Key Vault, and App Services

• Infrastructure-as-code expertise using Terraform (or Bicep)

• Strong understanding of data lake architecture, ETL workflows, and event-driven systems

• Familiarity with AI/ML services, especially Azure Cognitive Services (OCR, Form Recognizer, etc.)

• Excellent debugging, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills, particularly with third-party platforms

• Programming experience in Python within Azure environments

Nice to Have:

• Experience with property technology or tenant compliance platforms

• Familiarity with Power BI or integration into BI ecosystems

• Knowledge of Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation
