100 Days In: Reflecting on My Journey as CEO of Talentcrowd

As I hit the milestone of 100 days as CEO of Talentcrowd on October 9th, I couldn't help but take a step back and reflect on the incredible journey it’s been so far. From the whirlwind of excitement to the inevitable challenges, the past few months have been nothing short of an adventure. I’ve learned, adapted, and rolled up my sleeves, all in the pursuit of steering Talentcrowd toward a brighter future.

 

The Process: Learning, Listening, and Leading

When I took over, I thought, "How hard can this be?" I mean, it’s just a fancy title with a slightly more intimidating chair, right? Wrong. It turns out, being the one steering the ship means you don’t get to just coast along anymore. You’re the one who has to fix the leaks, choose the course, and, sometimes, patch up the holes you accidentally made yourself.

In my first week, I made it my mission to listen—really listen—to our contractors, clients, and internal team. I realized quickly that this wasn’t about putting my stamp on the company; it was about letting Talentcrowd’s voice be louder, stronger, and more aligned than ever. So, I spent hours in meetings, late nights sifting through data, and way too much caffeine learning what makes this community work so well.

 

Accomplishments: What We’ve Achieved Together

But really, it wasn’t all chaotic energy and existential dread. We hit some big milestones together:

  • Leveling Up Your Experience: We’ve turbocharged the way we connect tech wizards to your projects. Think: faster, smarter, and way more tailored to your unique needs. The result? Happier clients, smoother projects, and plenty of high-fives all around.
  • Bigger, Badder Talent Pool: We didn’t just grow our network—we supercharged it. We’ve added an army of brainy, versatile tech pros to tackle any challenge you throw at us. Translation: No tech problem is too weird or wild for us to handle.
  • New Power Plays: We’ve teamed up with some seriously cool partners, making sure we’ve got the goods to deliver even bigger and better solutions for you. More options, more brains, more ways to win.
  • New Business Booming: We've spoken to more potential clients in this quarter than we did in the first half of the year—thank you very much! Whether it was our killer pitch, better alignment with customer needs, or sheer stubbornness, the new business pipeline is flowing, and I’m loving every drop.
  • Brand Recognition That Sticks: Remember when people didn’t know who the heck we were? Now, they can't get enough of us. We’ve doubled our social media following, dabbled in ads, and have really gotten our name out there.
  • Clearer Product Offerings: I’ll admit it, our services were kind of like a “choose your own adventure” book with the last pages missing. Soon, you'll see defined packages, a streamlined pitch, and a better way to help our clients see what Talentcrowd can really do. No more fumbling explanations—just products.


Surprises Along the Way

You’d think after two decades in this game, I’d be immune to surprises. Nope. A few unexpected turns included:

  • Our Team’s Resilience: Just when I thought they’d given all they could, they gave more. Contractors gave product advice, accountants gave design feedback, and sales people helped with data clean up. Who are these people?!?! Amazing - that is who they are.
  • The Power of Authenticity: Turns out, just being myself—star wars shirts, unlimited GIF's, and all—works wonders. When I let down the “CEO guard,” our contractors, clients, and partners became more invested in our journey.
  • The Endless Supply of Tech Talent: Seriously, every time I thought we’d found all the unicorns, another one showed up. And they just keep coming. Talentcrowd's community is stronger than ever, and it’s because our people know how to shine.

 

The Path Forward: What’s Next?

Looking ahead, I’m more excited than ever about the direction Talentcrowd is heading. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Expanding Our Reach: We’re doubling down on outreach, marketing, and making sure everyone knows Talentcrowd is the go-to for top-tier tech talent.
  • Leveling Up Our Platform: We are soon going to be launching our Member Portal to help our contractors see where they are at and get access to everything they need to be successful.
  • Continuing to be Humble (and Hungry): I’m not here to sit back and take it easy. There’s still so much more to do, and if I have to keep hustling like I’m an intern trying to impress the boss, so be it.
